ABOUT US
Tanzania Community Development was founded in 2010 by Thomas Laoi, a native Tanzanian born and raised from a Maasai Family professional wildlife guide and community leader. Due to the difficulties the maasai community are facing in daily life Mr. Laoi faced the community and initiated the project for the benefit of his community, With the help of sponcers like you up to now in 2022 Mr. Laoi succeded to build a school for the kids (which was never there before ), providing jobs through cultural tourism and safaris of the local area.
In 2010, Mr, Laoi opened the door of one maasai family of five children from the area who were without family support (Orphans). Since then children come to us from a variety of unfortunate backgrounds that include parental illness, accidental death (often from the mining industry) and abandonment. All children in need are supported by the organization regardless of their tribe, religion and gender. As our vision is envisages seeing a developed society living in a good and sustained environment.
Despite the prevalent and most well known causes of mortality in Tanzania, poverty claims the most victims through lack of access to basic healthcare, water sanitation and hygiene and ultimately, education for a better way of life.
The first primary class opened on site. After a lot of hard work, many generous donations and volunteers, we have expanded the school to see the children through to secondary school.
